Wix has long been known for its user-friendly drag-and-drop website builder, making it a popular choice for beginners.
However, many believed it was too basic for complex projects, leaving WordPress as the preferred platform for advanced websites with custom functionalities. (like E-commerce or log in sessions).
This reputation has changed with the introduction of Wix Studio, a new version of Wix tailored for agencies and freelancers who require additional tools and functionalities to better serve their clients' needs.
I now use it for clients because it’s both user-friendly and powerful. You can customise with code and add apps (like WordPress plugins), making it a strong WordPress alternative.
So forget Wix Editor—here’s why Wix Studio is better:

Budget Considerations: Truth is Wix Studio is cheaper than Wix, don't ask me why. Let's compare both pricing:
Do you see the price difference? Studio's light version costs 12 USD/month compared to 17 USD/month for Wix. Packages are extremely similar.
Wix Studio provides stunning templates—just take a look at some examples here. Many of these templates feature sleek animations and modern designs, making it possible to launch a visually impressive website in as little as an hour.
Wix Studio is significantly more user-friendly than Wix Editor. It offers far more customisation options—for example, I can easily edit the text for the mobile version of my site on Studio, something that isn’t possible on Wix Editor. I can also hide elements on the mobile version so they only show up on desktop while on Wix I can only hide sections. (See the picture below).
Wix Studio let you design your site in Figma and then transfer it to Studio. And if there’s a design element you can’t achieve directly in Studio—like creating a specific hover effect—you can use the custom code feature to make it happen.
Let me be clear: Skip Wix Editor and head straight to Wix Studio. Think of Studio as the perfect blend of WordPress's flexibility and Wix Editor's simplicity—it’s feature-rich yet easy to use and cheaper than Wix Editor.
The main difference with Wordpress, however, is that with Wix, you don’t fully own your website since the platform hosts it for you (On Wordpress, you must select a third-party hosting platform and you can easily switch).
The best way to start with Wix Studio is to pick a template and start building your website for free. You’ll only need to pay for a domain later if you want your site to be available on web browsers.
One important note: You can’t migrate a Wix Editor website to Wix Studio—they’re two separate versions of Wix and aren’t compatible with each other.
